Protective Coatings Case Study

Client

With over 50 years’ experience, F Allen and Son are a family owned company based in Wolverhampton they cover the West Midlands, Shropshire and beyond. With a total dedication to being the very best in their industry, they have become one of the region’s top names in blasting and the application of epoxy paint and coatings mainly in the Oil and Gas C5M/Norsok environments.

Challenge

The client approached New Guard Coatings Group requesting us to not only supply them with their paint systems but also with NACE technical support. The client was keen to continue offering the best level of paint application possible, however they still needed to ensure that they remained competitive in the marketplace.

Paint System

gmacover 280, Sigmacover 410 and Sigmadur 550, RAL 9002, Norsok system 6A & Sigmaguard 730 Norsok system 6C.

Result

Having historically worked with many PPG products, the client was happy to test the paint system recommended, appreciating the potential level of quality the products could deliver.

It was only upon final readings being taken by our NACE 3 inspector that he discovered the resulting adhesion and finish was “the best he had ever seen”. A standard minimum reading of 5 Mpa is expected for a pass, however with F. Allen’s expertise along with New Guard Coatings Group’s paint system and technical support the result was quite simply ‘exceptional’, an average of 18 and 20 Mpa for the two systems.

End User Testimonial

“We have had numerous orders to paint valves to differing specifications
from the Petrochem and Process industries. We are pleased to report that
we have been very impressed with the high standards and quick turnaround from both F. Allen and New Guard Coatings. We would have no hesitation in recommending either of these companies.”
